Our enrollment team is here for you! We are now accepting applications for Pre-K to 10th grade for the 2025-2026 school year.
Transfer students, students with IEPs, and bilingual students are always welcome!
School in the Square is a network of free public charter schools serving families in Washington Heights, Inwood and the Bronx. We educate students in early childhood and elementary school (PreK to 5th grade), middle school (6th to 8th grade), and high school (9th and 10th grades in 2025, adding 11th grade in 2026 and 12 grade in 2027).
There is no cost to apply to or attend School the Square.

We invite you to explore our vibrant community of four campuses in Washington Heights and Inwood and see firsthand what makes School in the Square unique.
Our youngest learners benefit from our best-in-class dual-language program designed to empower bilingual thinkers, develop demonstrable competencies in English across our rich core curriculum and bridge cultures through daily 90-minute Spanish-language explorations, including regular field trips into the community and beyond.
Older students develop more maturity and independence as they take ownership for accomplishing at a higher level of challenge and deepen their academic skills. Acclaimed International Baccalaureate curriculum frameworks continue to reinforce the attributes of successful learners and responsible citizens while sports, clubs and arts experiences build on their interests.
